Spicy food are the best when it comes to relieving stress!
Aside from Thai and Korean cuisines, I have yet to find another cuisine that can match up to my liking of spicy food :D
However, this dish is suitable for you even if you don't really like spicy foods - just adjust the amount of red pepper paste you use and you're good to go!
Ingredients:
For the sauce:
- 1 tsp honey RM15 per small bottle
- 1 tbsp spicy powder
- 1 tbsp cooking rice wine (Japanese or Korean)
- 2 tbsp gochujang
- 1 tbsp miso
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (Japanese or Korean)
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
Main ingredients:
- Squid; 1 pack: approx. 200g RM13
- Garlic, sliced
- Onions, sliced
- Bean sprouts; approx. 150g
- Spring onion (you can use leek instead)
Method:
1. Prep all the ingredients.
2. In a large fry pan, turn the heat on and stir fry the garlic and onions until fragrant.
3. Add the squid and fry until it is cooked. Then, add in the bean sprouts. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine all the ingredients for the sauce and mix well.
4. Pour the sauce mixture into the pan and mix well so that all the ingredients are coated with the sauce. Put the lid on and simmer over medium-low heat for 7-10 minutes.
5. Once it is done, add the spring onions and it is ready to serve :)
If you want, you can top it off with some sesame seeds for a nice presentation.
For variations of this dish, you can use other types of seafood or any types of meat.
Also, if you are vegetarian, you may use hard tofu in place of meat/seafood; but be sure to check all your sauces so that they do not contain any animal products :)
Hope you liked this recipe!
