Spicy Korean-Styled Hot Pot

One of the easiest dinner meal to make of all time!!

All it takes is a good soup base and a bunch of your favorite ingredients!

You can have this for breakfast, lunch, and even dinner and never get bored of it~~

If it's too light, have it with a bowl of rice!

Or serve with a side dish as well!

So many ways to eat this yet so simple to cook! :)

Ingredients:

*Since the ingredients are all based on whatever it is that you want to put into the pot, I'll just give a list of suggestions of some of the common vegetables and meat that is used :) Feel free to add/remove as you'd like!

- Meat: chicken, fish balls, pork slices, pork ribs.

- Vegetables: napa cabbage, mushrooms, leek

- Others: onions, tofu, glass noodles

Ingredients for Soup Base:

*This soup base can be used for some Korean stews as well, such as Kimchi stew and soft tofu stew.

Portion: for approx. 400 mL of water.

- Ginger, grated (approx. 1 tbsp)

- Garlic, grated (approx. 1 tbsp)

- 3 tbsp Gochujang (reduce to 2 tbsp if you want it less spicy)

- 2 tbsp miso

- 1/2 tbsp Korean spicy powder (you can use grounded chili flakes instead)

- 1 tbsp Japanese cooking rice wine

- 1 tbsp Japanese/Korean soy sauce

- 2 tbsp sesame oil

Method:

1. Prepare the ingredients for the hot pot and set aside. Also prepare the soup base in a bowl and set aside for convenience.

2. Add approx. 400 mL of water into a large pot and boil.

3. First, put in the meat with bones (chicken parts, pork ribs, etc)

4. Once they are 3/4 cooked, add in the the vegetables and other ingredients except for leek & tofu (as they cook quite fast).

5. Then, add in the soup base, any remaining meat (sliced meats, fish balls, etc), and other remaining ingredients. Mix slightly and boil for 10-15 minutes or until everything is cooked well.

6. Before serving, mix the contents well so that the the flavors are mixed well.

That is it!

It's pretty much adding everything into a large pot with the soup base, and it's ready to eat!

Hope you enjoyed this recipe! :D
