Omelette!
I could make a satisfying meal with just a bowl of rice, an omelette, and a spicy sauce to top it off.
There are many variations to an omelette and this is only one of them - cooked with Korean roasted layered seaweed.
Other times, I would use carrots, onions, long beans, or tomatoes to make my omelette.
Or just use all! Cause why not? :)
Ingredients:
- Korean roasted layered seaweed RM16
*I got this at a Korean supermarket, and you can eat it straight with rice as well or use as topping for noodles.
- 4 eggs
- White pepper
- Japanese noodle soup base; tsuyu RM15
Method:
1. Prep the ingredients: crack the eggs in a bowl and add half tablespoon of tsuyu with a pinch of white pepper. Mix well.
2. In a large flat pan, cover the surface with a little oil (use a non-stick pan for easier frying).
*You can use the normal circular pan or the square-shaped ones.
A square-shaped pan looks like this (on the left).
I got this image from japancentre.com and you can purchase it online from their website, or just at any local kitchen appliance store/home store.
P.S. I'm not sure if Lazada works for overseas, but they also sell this and they have great price offers! :)
3. Use a soup ladle to pour the egg mixture onto the pan. I use 1 scoop each time.
4. Pour a scoop of egg mixture onto the pan and let it cook. Once it's about 3/4 done (you will be able to see that the bottom parts are slightly brown and the surface is still a little wet), start to flip the egg little by little.
5. Once the first layer is done, lift one side of the egg a little, and pour another scoop onto the pan. The cooked egg will stick to the new layer as it's being fried.
6. Continue the same method for the 3rd layer as well. However, once you have poured the egg mixture for the 3rd time, add a straight line/layer of roasted seaweed.
7. Continue flipping and repeat until you have finished your egg mixture, and it's done!
It may seem pretty hard at first, but once you have tried cooking it the first time, it gets easier :)
I'm so sorry if the explanations are complicating... :(
Click here to see how the flipping and the process goes for cooking this type of omelette! It's not my video...I found it on YouTube and thought that it may be helpful :) This video shows the recipe for a classic Korean omelette, but the cooking process is the same.
Hope you enjoyed this recipe!
