The ABC Soup is a childhood favorite for many Chinese families.
Often served with freshly cooked white rice and side dishes, the soup is able to complement each dish!

*Note: from this post onwards, I will be providing estimate costs of all the ingredients that I use in my recipes! Since I am a student as well, I feel that many people will find it helpful if you are planning your budget for the week.
The prices are all in Malaysian Ringgit.
Serving: 2-4 pax
Things you need:
- Half chicken (skinless) RM4
- 2 whole onions RM2
- 3 potatoes; peeled & cut into pieces RM2
- 5 carrots; peeled & cut into pieces RM5
- Salt RM10 per bottle
- White & black pepper RM10 per bottle
Method:
1. Prepare all the ingredients.
2. Fill a large pot with approximately 3/4 clean water and bring to boil. Once it starts to boil, put the chicken into the pot.
3. After 5 minutes, remove any excess oil on the surface of the water by using a soup ladle.
4. Then, add in the onions, carrots, and potatoes.
5. Boil the soup for 1 and a half hours. If you have more time, you can boil longer. (When it comes to boiling soup, it tastes the best if you boil it for 3-4 hours on low heat)
6. The final step is to add in the salt and peppers according to your liking. In my recipe, I added more black peppers as it gives a sort of "smoky" taste to the soup :)
